Are you a member of TWoP?
I have been, on and off.

What is your screen name, if you have one. (If you feel uncomfortable giving your screen name that’s fine, I’ll refer to your comments as anonymous) Um, I've used several. I'm not sure what my current one is. (My posting habits aren't frequent enough that I'm "known.")

How old are you? 21. Eek, first time I've ever given that answer.

Are you male or female? I am female.

What country/state/province are you from? Connecticut, but not Stars Hollow.

Do you post or lurk on the Gilmore Girls forums? Mostly a lurker now.

How long have you been a member? I'd say 4 and a half years.

What attracted you to Gilmore Girls in the first place? The witty dialogue, the romantic couples that I could get invested in, the (once) likable two main characters I could identify with (both).

What attracted you to TelevisionWithoutPity? The recaps, and then I realized it had forums.

What’s your primary reason for returning to the Gilmore Girls forums on TWoP? Now, it's the spoiler thread without discussion because it's quick and always updated. I think the discussion that goes on in other threads though tends to be more intelligent than at other forums (such as Fanbolt).

What topics are you most active on and why(within the GG forums only)? I don't post much but I'd say character threads (Rory, Lorelai, L/L, R/J), Media, spoiler, Connecticut thread, GG cast in other Roles.

Do you feel that your personality on the site is reflective of your personality outside of the online community? Um, yes, but I think it allows me to be a bit more of a know-it-all than I try to come across in real life, HA!

Do you feel like the Gilmore Girls boards on TWoP have a distinct sense of community? Why
or why not?
Yes, especially now as everyone seems to be in agreement that the show has taken a turn for the worst and both Gilmore girls are unrecognizable.

Have you been active in any online communities before? If so how many and when did you start? Also why? Yes, in another "fandom" about 6 years ago, because I found myself much more interested in a show than I had been before. Then in GG about 4 and a half years ago. Both times started in search of spoilers during a summer hiatus, and both times I got wrapped up in the communities. I suppose it was probably a distraction while waiting for the show to begin airing again in the fall.

What’s your personal opinion of the posters at the Gilmore Girls forums? Generally pretty snarky. Sometimes people can be unforgiving. It's better since Pamie left though. Less blatant character (and actor) bashing...

Have you ever communicated offline or met someone that you made contact with on the TWoP Gilmore Girls boards? No... scary.

Have you ever found yourself comparing your life to the lives of the characters on the show? In the beginning, more than I suppose was actually true. Now the characters are nothing like me. Where'd Rory go and is Lorelai insane?

Do you feel emotionally attached to the plotlines in the show? Once, pathetically yes, but I've learned to let go, lol.

How you feel about the term crazy internet person? Lauren Graham is right: I suppose it is crazy. My wanning from the community I suppose has a bit to do with this realization, but also a growing detachment to the show and television in general. I still like television the same, but have learned to form a different emotional attachment to it. But I think she gave the community a bum wrap: what does she think of book groups? People get together month all over the world to discuss a new Oprah book. Viewers are just making convenience of the internet to discuss their "literary" equivalent, and GG once delivered better substance than most novels people read today anyway.

Are you a member of TWoP?
Yes

What is your screen name, if you have one. (If you feel uncomfortable giving your screen name that’s fine, I’ll refer to your comments as anonymous)
fulfilled

How old are you?
24

Are you male or female?
female

What country/state/province are you from?
Alberta, Canada

Do you post or lurk on the Gilmore Girls forums?
Post regularly

How long have you been a member?
Since September, 2005

What attracted you to Gilmore Girls in the first place?
The relationships--I don't remember what, specifically, made me watch, but I do remember that I started watching regularly in mid-season 3, and was intrigued by Rory and Lorelai's relationship, and how that impacted the other parts of their lives.

What attracted you to TelevisionWithoutPity?
The recaps. I'd followed some links from friends, and some circumstances in my life lead to having more free time, so I ended up on the forums, lurking for a while, and then posting.

What’s your primary reason for returning to the Gilmore Girls forums on TWoP?
I love the discussion--I enjoy the fact that it tends to be more intelligent than some of the other forums, and I like having a place to talk to other people who love the show, too. I started coming because I was intrigued by the discussion, and because GG was the first show that I was that involved in the fandom for, and I keep going back because I love the characters and shows, and because the other posters have become my friends, and I miss them when I'm not around.

What topics are you most active on and why(within the GG forums only)?
I'm in the GGMM--which is where most of my friendships that have spilled over into real life have been built, and where I've really become part of the community. I also post in the character threads, particularly Rory-centric threads (Rory, Rory/Logan, Rory/Jess, Logan, and Jess, in particular). I watch the show from a Rory-centric viewpoint a lot of the time, and I feel like sometimes the discussion about her is overlooked in favor of Lorelai (on the TWoP boards, at least), so I like to participate in the discussion and keep it going when I can. I also post in some of the Whimsy games and various episode/nitpick/details threads, as I have something to contribute or some time to spend playing the games.

Do you feel that your personality on the site is reflective of your personality outside of the online community?
Most of the time, yes. I don't act much different than I do with people I hang out with in my 3D life. I may talk about things before I'm ready to talk about them in "real" life, but the way I act and talk is pretty close to the same.

Do you feel like the Gilmore Girls boards on TWoP have a distinct sense of community? Why or why not?
Yes, definitely. I think that there are always going to be people who disagree, but I think that the community as a whole is very respectful of other opinions and isn't nearly as volatile as other fandoms I know of. I see a huge sense of community in the Meet Market, and also among regular posters on the boards--the new people who come in and out don't seem to have the same connection, but there are a lot of people who have been around for a while and who have relationships with each other, which makes everything on the boards, from hangman to the episode discussions, feel more like a community.

I do feel like there's a certain disillusionment with the show, and that's sometimes invading the threads, but since I still like the show and have faith in it, I try to stay away from places like some of the episode threads, the "Has this show lost it?" thread, and the spoiler threads, because that's where much of the tension comes into play.

Have you been active in any online communities before? If so how many and when did you start? Also why?
Yes, a few. I've been blogging for nearly 6 years, and I've participated in NaNoWriMo and the boards there.

What’s your personal opinion of the posters at the Gilmore Girls forums?
I think that most of the posters are intelligent, thoughtful people who have solid opinions about the show, even if I don't agree with them. I think that tensions and emotions sometimes run high, but at the same time, people generally have informed opinions.

It's funny, because I've found that my automatic assumption is that a poster is a Caucasian female in her mid-20s, until I find out otherwise, unless there's bad grammar or spelling, in which case I assume that the poster is much younger--14 or 15. I know that's not necessarily an accurate cross-section of the population at TWoP, but that's what I am, so that's how I see everyone else, until I get to know them.

Have you ever communicated offline or met someone that you made contact with on the TWoP Gilmore Girls boards?
Absolutely--I've met at least 3 different GG TWoPpers, and I'm planning to meet at least 15 more within the next few months.

Have you ever found yourself comparing your life to the lives of the characters on the show?
Yes. I've seen parallels often, and I often use that to relate and temper my enjoyment of a storyline. It also often comes up in my posts on the character threads, too.

Do you feel emotionally attached to the plotlines in the show?
Definitely. I wouldn't post about it or write fic about it if I didn't.

How you feel about the term crazy internet person?
I don't have any particular issue with it one way or another. I don't think it's offensive or dumb, but I'd rather be called it by another "CIP" than by a random non-internet fan who's trying to classify us.
